Harsh Thaker scored 23 from 52 balls, while Nicholas Kirton contributed 16 and Shreyas Movva made 22. These innings were not enough to put Canada firmly in control of the chase.
However, Canada refused to give up. Captain Saad Bin Zafar played a crucial unbeaten knock of 40 runs, while Ansh Patel added 41 from 32 balls. Their partnership brought Canada close to the target and set up a thrilling finish.
Scotland Turn the Match Around in the Final Overs
Canada appeared to be moving towards victory as the chase entered its final stages. With only a small number of runs separating the teams, the pressure was firmly on Scotland.
The decisive moment came in the 49th over. On the very first delivery of the over, Ansh Patel was run out after scoring 41. The dismissal proved extremely costly for Canada as Scotland immediately regained control.
Later in the same over, Junaid Zainullah dismissed Kaleem Sana, who managed only one run. Canada then entered the final over with their hopes of victory hanging by a thread.
In the 50th over, Safyaan Sharif completed the job for Scotland by having Zahid Shirzad caught by Munsey. The dismissal brought Canada’s innings to an end at 272 in 49.2 overs.
Earlier, Brandon McMullen and Oliver Davidson had also played an important role with the ball by putting sustained pressure on Canada’s middle order.
