Engineer revealed that he had spoken with former West Indies fast bowler Wes Hall and members of Sobers’ family, adding that Barbados was deeply saddened by the loss of one of its greatest sporting icons.

Sri Lanka Premier League to Honor Garfield Sobers

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced that players participating in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 would pay tribute to Garfield Sobers before the day’s matches.

A one-minute silence will be observed before play begins at Colombo’s SSC Ground, while players from all participating teams will wear black armbands as a mark of respect for the late cricket legend.
