Cricketer Abishek Porel Arrested: IPL Cricketer Arrested Over Marriage Promise Allegation

Cricketer Abishek Porel Arrested: Bengal cricketer Abishek Porel, who represents the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has reportedly been arrested by police in West Bengal’s Hooghly district following a complaint by a woman who has accused him of having a sexual relationship with her after allegedly promising to marry her.

According to a police official, a case had been registered against the cricketer and a court order had been issued in connection with his arrest. Porel was taken into custody late on Monday night, and police were expected to produce him before a court on Tuesday.

The case has attracted attention because of Porel’s association with the IPL and his career in domestic cricket. However, the allegations against him are part of an ongoing legal investigation, and the complaint does not by itself establish guilt.

Police Arrest Abishek Porel in Hooghly

Hooghly (Rural) Superintendent of Police Kunar Bhushan Singh said that a case had been registered against Abishek Porel and that there was a court order concerning his arrest. Police subsequently took the cricketer into custody late at night.

Earlier, Mogra Police had taken action against Porel and were preparing to present him before a court in Chinsurah. Police sources said several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) had been invoked in the case. The case also reportedly includes provisions under the Information Technology Act.

The investigation is currently underway, with police looking into the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the relationship.

Medical Student Files Complaint Against Cricketer

The complaint was reportedly filed on June 23 by a medical student from Karnataka at Mogra Police Station. According to the complaint, the woman claimed that she and Porel had been in a relationship for around three and a half years.

She further alleged that the two had been planning to get married. The complaint claims that the relationship later became the subject of a dispute, leading the woman to approach the police.

Following the complaint, investigators began looking into the matter. Police teams reportedly visited Porel’s residence in Chandannagar several times as part of the investigation. However, officers were unable to find him at the residence during those visits.

Police have also been seeking responses from Porel and his family as the investigation continues. The allegations will now be examined through the legal process, and the court will consider the case based on the evidence presented by the investigating authorities.
