India vs Netherlands turned into a one-sided contest at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 as India registered a commanding 95-run win, powered by impressive performances from Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and Shree Charani.
After posting a formidable total of 209 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs, the Indian bowlers ensured there was no way back for the Netherlands. The Dutch side was bowled out for 114 in 17.3 overs, handing India one of their most convincing victories of the tournament.
Mandhana and Shafali Set the Tone
India’s innings was built on a dominant opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. The duo attacked the Dutch bowling from the outset and kept the scoreboard moving at a rapid pace.
Shafali was the first to reach her half-century, bringing up the milestone in just 32 balls. She played an aggressive knock of 55 runs from 38 deliveries, striking 10 boundaries before being dismissed.
Mandhana continued to anchor the innings while maintaining an attacking approach. The left-hander reached her fifty in 36 balls and went on to score 74 runs from 47 deliveries, including 11 fours and a six. Her innings provided the foundation for India’s imposing total.
India crossed the 50-run mark in just 5.1 overs and reached 100 in 10.5 overs, highlighting the aggressive intent shown by the batters throughout the innings.
Valuable Contributions in the Middle Order
Following the strong opening stand, Jemimah Rodrigues added useful runs with a brisk 19 off 13 balls, hitting two boundaries. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur chipped in with 12 runs from nine deliveries.
Although Yastika Bhatia was dismissed cheaply for three runs, the momentum remained firmly with India. Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 20 from only eight balls, smashing one four and two sixes during her late cameo.
India crossed the 200-run mark in the final over and eventually finished on 209 for 5, putting immense pressure on the Netherlands heading into the chase.
Netherlands Struggle in Chase
Chasing a target above 200 was always going to be a difficult task for the Netherlands, and the Indian bowling attack made matters even tougher.
Heather Siegers offered some resistance with 21 runs from 16 balls, including four boundaries. Captain Babette de Leede contributed 28 runs from 27 deliveries, while Sterre Kalis added 18 runs and Fiebe Molkenboer scored 15.
However, regular wickets prevented the Dutch side from building meaningful partnerships. The team managed to reach 100 runs in 14.4 overs but never looked capable of threatening India’s total.
Eventually, the Netherlands were bowled out for 114 in 17.3 overs, falling well short of the target.
Shree Charani Leads India’s Bowling Charge
The standout performer with the ball was Shree Charani, who delivered an excellent spell to dismantle the middle and lower order. She finished with four wickets for just 19 runs, emerging as the most successful bowler of the match.
Interestingly, opener Shafali Verma also made a significant impact with the ball, claiming three wickets for 20 runs. Nandini Sharma picked up key breakthroughs, while Deepti Sharma added another wicket to keep the pressure on the Dutch batters.
India’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensured there were no opportunities for the Netherlands to stage a comeback.
