Divyang Cricket Team: Amit Shah Meets Indian Men’s Team After Historic Win at Lord’s

Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the Indian men’s Divyang Cricket Team in New Delhi after the players returned from England following an impressive campaign in the India-England Men’s Mixed Disability T20 Series 2026. The team’s performance in England, particularly its memorable victory at Lord’s, drew attention and praise after the players secured a remarkable 118-run win against the hosts.

Amit Shah congratulated the players for their determination and efforts to bring pride to the country. Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, the Home Minister said he was pleased to meet the Indian men’s disability cricket team in New Delhi. He noted that the players had returned after taking part in the India-England Men’s Mixed Disability T20 Series 2026 and praised their determination to achieve success for the nation.

Amit Shah also said that the team’s commitment and efforts to earn recognition for India could inspire the country’s youth. He extended his best wishes to the players for their future endeavours.

India-England Series Produced a Closely Fought Contest

The series featured a total of seven matches between India and England. The opening match went in England’s favour, with the hosts securing a 29-run victory. India responded strongly in the second match, defeating England by a narrow margin of six runs to level the series at 1-1.

India continued its impressive run in the third match, beating England by eight runs and taking a 2-1 lead in the series. However, England bounced back in the following game and registered a two-run victory, bringing the series level once again.

The momentum then shifted towards the English side. England won the fifth match by 54 runs and followed it up with another victory in the sixth game, this time by 18 runs. With those two wins, England took an unassailable 4-2 lead in the seven-match series.

Although India could not win the overall series, the final match produced one of the most memorable moments of the tour.

India Registers Historic 118-Run Win at Lord’s

On August 19, India produced a stunning performance at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground, defeating England by 118 runs. The victory stood out as a major achievement for the Indian team and provided a memorable finish to the series.

India batted first and posted an imposing total of 206 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Arjun Gaware played an important role with a well-made 68 runs, while Majid Magare contributed an impressive 63. Their strong batting performances helped India build a commanding total.

England struggled badly in the chase. The home side was bowled out for just 88 runs in 13.4 overs, handing India a comprehensive 118-run victory.

The Indian players celebrated the historic win in style after the match. They were seen waving their jerseys from the Lord’s balcony, creating a memorable scene at one of cricket’s most famous venues.

Despite losing the seven-match series 4-3, India’s dominant final-match performance at Lord’s gave the divyang cricket team a significant moment to remember. The result also highlighted the players’ fighting spirit and determination to compete strongly on the international stage.
