ETPL Opening Match to Be Played on August 26

The first-ever ETPL match will take place at Voorburg Cricket Club in The Hague on August 26. The tournament opener will feature Rotterdam Dockers, led under the guidance of former South African great Jonty Rhodes, taking on Amsterdam Flames, a franchise associated with Australian cricket legend Steve Waugh.

The opening fixture is expected to set the tone for the competition, with fans eager to witness the launch of Europe’s newest franchise T20 league.

Rahul Dravid’s Team Begins Campaign on August 27

One of the most anticipated fixtures of the opening week will be played on August 27, when Dublin Guardians, represented by Indian cricket icon Rahul Dravid, face Belfast Wolves, a team linked with Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

The Dublin Guardians will be captained by experienced Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, bringing vast international experience and leadership to the squad. Cricket fans across the world are expected to closely follow Dravid’s involvement as the league begins its journey.

ETPL Tournament Format Explained

The ETPL season will begin in The Hague, with the remaining league-stage matches shifting to Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin. The same venue will also host the Qualifier and the Final, making Dublin the centerpiece of the knockout stages.

The tournament follows a double round-robin format, where every team will face each of the other five teams twice during the league stage.

At the end of the league phase

The team finishing first in the points table will qualify directly for the final.
The teams finishing second and third will compete in a Qualifier.
The winner of the Qualifier will secure the remaining place in the championship match.

Abhishek Bachchan Among ETPL Co-Founders

The ETPL has been co-founded by Abhishek Bachchan, along with Sourav Banerjee, Priyanka Kaul, and Dheeraj Malhotra.
