The WTC Final 2027 Venue has officially been confirmed, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) announcing that the World Test Championship Final for the 2025–27 cycle will be played at The Oval in London instead of the previously expected Lord’s Cricket Ground. The five-day title clash is scheduled to take place from 9 to 13 June 2027, marking a significant change in the tournament’s planning.
The decision also adds historical significance to the event, as the year 2027 will coincide with the 150th anniversary of Test cricket, making the championship final one of the most anticipated fixtures on the international cricket calendar.
ICC Selects The Oval as the WTC Final 2027 Venue
The ICC confirmed that The Oval will host the World Test Championship Final after reviewing plans for the event. Lord’s had initially been considered the likely venue, but the governing body opted for The Oval following the success of previous World Test Championship matches held there.
This will be the second time The Oval hosts a WTC Final. The ground previously staged the 2023 World Test Championship Final, where Australia defeated India to claim their maiden WTC title.
England will continue to remain the home of the World Test Championship finals for the foreseeable future. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already secured the hosting rights for the 2027, 2029, and 2031 finals, with the 2027 edition now officially assigned to The Oval.

World Test Championship Winners So Far
The World Test Championship has produced three different champions since its launch:
2021: New Zealand defeated India in Southampton to become the inaugural World Test Championship winners.
2023: Australia overcame India at The Oval to lift their first WTC title.
2025: South Africa claimed their maiden World Test Championship crown after an impressive campaign, becoming the third different team to win the tournament.
The tournament has helped maintain interest in Test cricket by rewarding consistency across a two-year international schedule rather than a standalone competition.
Current WTC Standings: Australia Leads, India Faces Pressure

Australia currently leads the World Test Championship standings with an impressive 87.50 percentage of points (PCT). South Africa occupies second place with 75.00 PCT, while New Zealand sits third on 72.22 PCT.
Bangladesh has emerged as one of the surprise performers, holding fourth position with 58.33 PCT after an encouraging start to the cycle.
India, meanwhile, finds itself in fifth place with 48.15 PCT. Having reached the finals in both 2021 and 2023 without lifting the trophy, India now faces the challenge of producing consistent performances across the remaining series to remain in contention for another appearance.
Sri Lanka, England, West Indies, and Pakistan currently occupy the remaining positions in the standings, though the competition remains closely contested and several teams still have realistic qualification hopes.
Upcoming Test Series Could Shape the Finalists
The next round of international Test cricket is expected to play a major role in determining which teams eventually qualify for the final in London.
West Indies and Pakistan are scheduled to begin a two-Test series from 25 July, while Australia will face Bangladesh in another important two-match series starting in August.
